Lorenz’ weekly – Everything is new
First of all, happy new year everyone. The first week of working in my own company has passed and I am happy and really proud of what we have achieved so far. January and February are filled with cool projects already and I can’t wait to share the first results. Being your own boss really is an unbelievable feeling. To find out more about our company and what we’re up to, make sure to follow our feed.
I also started to teach students of the HTW HTML and CSS. The first lecture was really fun and it feels great to share some of your knowledge with others. It also reminded me of how I started to develop websites twelve years ago.
Finally I collected some links this week that may be interesting for you as well.
The Designer Daniel Mall posted a great article on content and display patterns which is related to the thoughts on Atomic Design by Brad Frost. While I am at it, make sure to read Brad’s follow-up as well.
Web folks are still searching for the best email client. I just stumbled upon Polymail which looks quite interesting. Personally I just always have problems with finally leaving Apple Mail behind and try out something new.
Jeffrey Zeldman posted a great “Year in Design” review. If you are looking for some good advice on how to design websites these days, this is your to-do list.
Some pro-arguments on Progressive Enhancement.
If you are still thinking about a good new year’s resolution, I have one for you, that will improve your life significantly. Cook more!
A great Safari feature that I did not know about.
Facebook published some nice design resources – sketch files of popular devices.
Have a great week!
